2011 Infiniti M Recognized by National Crash Avoidance Program

The 2011 Infiniti M, available at Boston Infiniti dealers, is the among the first of the recipients to be recognized by the National Crash Avoidance Program to obtain the three new crash avoidance technologies recommended by the National Highway Safety Administration.

As of 2011, the National Crash Avoidance Program will supplement their New Car Assessment Program by including three mature crash avoidance technologies: Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning Technologies, and EBoston Infinitilectronic Stability Control.

These crash avoidance technologies are meant to avoid potentially hazardous situations that drivers encounter daily.

The New Car Assessment Program is a safety ratings program that tests the technologies against the National Highway Safety Administration’s performance criteria. Boston Infiniti dealers carry the 2011 Infinity M, a luxury sedan and first recipient to successfully include the new standards issued by the National Highway Safety Administration.

In addition to these three crash avoidance technologies, the Infiniti M has a blind spot warning system and the world’s first blind spot intervention system. These systems use a small camera that is placed behind the windshield that views lane markers in front of the vehicle to calculate the car’s position. The system warns of unintended lane departure with a visual display, chime, and a gentle application of the brakes.

The Intelligent Brake Assist system with Forward Collision Warning uses an infrared laser sensor unit from the Intelligent Cruise Control’s system to monitor and analyze closing speeds to a vehicle ahead. If a frontal collision is imminent and there is no response from the driver, the system will automatically engage the breaks to lower the speed and reduce the consequences of the accident.

The 2011 Infiniti M also has a Vehicle Dynamic Control system which is the Infiniti’s version of electronic stability control. The system compares the actual vehicle cornering performance to the driver’s mode of driving. The system keeps the vehicle on the correct path by adjusting power levels and brake pressure to correct a driver who is over steering or under steering.

These newly featured crash avoidance technologies are available on both of the 2011 Infiniti M models in addition to the 2011 Infiniti QX luxury SUV. Boston Infiniti dealers, offer both models: the M56 with a standard 420 horsepower, 5.6 liter V8 and the M37 with 330 horsepower, 3.7 liter V6 engine and the 2011 Infiniti QX SUV.
